Let’s get to know Barb!

Barb is a nurse in the Hospice Division at BWHCH. She has been with the organization since 2022.

What are your job duties?

As a nurse in hospice, I provide care and spiritual support to patients and families.

What was the draw to work at BWHCH?

The team! The continuity of care for our families and patients. All my co-workers are absolutely amazing.

What is your favorite part of the day (doesn’t have to be work related)?

Talking with patients and family members. At the end of the day, knowing I made a difference for someone.

Why did you choose this type of work?

I spent the majority of my nursing career in the ER. Then I retired and failed at that… I needed to do something I’m passionate about. I found an opportunity at BWHH to volunteer. After a year, I needed to do more and took a position as a nurse at BWHH. It is an honor and privilege to help patients and family members complete the end of their journey with peace and dignity.

Upon learning of this honor, Barb said “I am so blessed to be part of this team”.

Barb has helped in the Blue Water Hospice Home and community by picking up extra hours and helping with new patients opening paperwork and planning. She is a team player and advocates for her patients. If there is a need for a nurse to come to work early, Barb does not hesitate. She is always asking what she can do to help.
