After previous volunteer experience at a hospice in Livonia, we were very excited to learn about BWHH. Some people would think it odd to get excited about hospice, but both my husband and I were happy to hear about the opportunities so close to our new home.

My husband enjoys visiting with patients because it makes them smile. Some patients don’t get many visitors, and he knows the staff and the patients appreciate his time. I sit at the front desk, and I know it’s important to have someone be the “face” of hospice as visitors arrive.

It also gives some structure to our week. We know “oh, tomorrow’s Friday; we get to go to hospice”. Sometimes retirees forget what day it is!!
