Let’s get to know John!

What do you do at VNA & BWH?

As an LPN at the Blue Water Hospice Home, I care for patients, tend to their medications, assist them at mealtime, address any wound needs – basically, whatever they need.

Why did you choose this type of work?

I like caring for people. It’s a good fit for me. In hospice care, I get to spend more one-on-one time with my patients and their family. I feel I can be a help to both the patient and family during their time of need.

Why do you choose to work at VNA & BWH?

I work with great people, and the location is really nice. I plan on staying – they’ll have to kick me out – ha ha!

What is a favorite memory you have of work?

Oh, so many… a couple years ago I was checking on a patient, a CENA was helping her get ready for the day. I asked if the patient needed anything, and she said to me “Hi Peggy – you look nice today!” Not sure why that stuck with me, but I remember smiling at her as I walked out of the room. She made my day.

John has adjusted his normal schedule to help accommodate his co-workers to ensure great patient care at the BWHH on more than one occasion. He is always willing to step in and help anyone do ANYTHING! John has a heart of gold, and it shows by the smile that is always on his face and the gentle way he cares for others.
