For more than 70 years, Visiting Nurse Association & Blue Water Hospice has served the community under that moniker. This week, the agency is changing names to better solidify their permanency and devotion to the Blue Water Area. The agency remains an independent, non-profit providing Home Health, Private Duty Home Care, and Hospice services to residents of St. Clair County, and parts of Sanilac, Lapeer, and Macomb counties.
“As the healthcare landscape continues to change around us, we need to do the same. Often, we hear of agencies being absorbed or merging with other organizations. I am thankful to share it is not happening with our agency,” said Angela DeLaere, President & CEO, Blue Water Home Care & Hospice. “We are not joining, combining, or being acquired by another…we remain locally governed, staffed, and an independent care provider.”
The community will see the rebranding rollout over the next several weeks. Staff will remain steadfast and continue to serve their patients with the high-quality care they are known to provide, simply the logo/name will change. DeLaere stated that the transition will take time and asked for patience during the rebrand.
A history of the agency…
In 1952, a group of concerned citizens established Visiting Nurse Association of Port Huron and Marysville after the announcement by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company that they would be discontinuing provision of in-home nursing services in the area. Restructuring led to the development of a parent corporation entitled Community Health Services with subsidiaries – Visiting Nurse Association of St. Clair County and Huron Home Health. Years later, the agency took on the name Visiting Nurse Association Health Services. In 1993, Blue Water Hospice officially became the third subsidiary, again modifying the name to Visiting Nurse Association & Blue Water Hospice, until this week when the organization changes to Blue Water Home Care & Hospice.
Since 1952, Blue Water Home Care & Hospice (BWHCH) has provided a continuum of care including Private Duty Home Care, Home Health, and Hospice care to residents of St. Clair, Sanilac, Lapeer, and Macomb counties. Blue Water Home Care & Hospice is a non-profit organization that provides high-quality, cost-effective health care to any patient and family member with short-term, long-term, or end-of-life care.
