Visiting Nurse Association & Blue Water Hospice has achieved Level 1 Partner status with the We Honor Veterans partner program. The mission of We Honor Veterans is to establish an enduring network of hospice and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) professionals, Veterans, volunteers, and other interested organizations working together to provide quality services through the end of life care for Veterans.

We Honor Veterans is a program of the National Alliance for Care at Home (The Alliance) – an organization of which VNABWH is a member. The Alliance is a leading authority in transforming care in the home for those providing and receiving healthcare through all stages of life.

There are five levels an organization can achieve based on how they serve Veterans. A Level 1 Partner status requires education for staff and volunteers and the development of organizational policies and procedures. 

As a Partner organization works through the levels and develops partnerships and collaborations, they educate, engage, and expand awareness of Veterans and their families. There are many Veterans who are not enrolled in VA and may not be aware of end-of-life services and benefits available to them. 

VNA & Blue Water Hospice is already working on requirements for Level 2 and plans to achieve all five levels to become a mentoring organization and help others achieve their status.
