Blue Water Home Care & Hospice (BWHCH) leadership honors staff and volunteers quarterly through the ‘Shining Star’ program, recognizing the extras they do for each other, our patients, and the community.
Let’s get to know Chasity!
Chasity is a Registered Nurse in the Hospice Division at BWHCH. She has been with the organization since 2023.
What attracted you to work at BWHCH?
Hospice has interested me for a while. My uncle pinned me at my graduation from nursing school. He was a Registered Nurse and worked in hospice toward the end of his career. When I got the opportunity to work at Blue Water Hospice Home, I was excited to start on a new journey where I could help individuals pass comfortably and provide care that allows family to be just that, family and not caregivers.
What path led you to becoming a nurse?
At 19, I joined the Army as an MP. After my discharge, I received a degree in Criminal Justice. When my Papa was ill, I became interested in the field after watching his nurse – she held a special place in my heart for her dedication to him. I realized being a nurse was what I truly wanted to do and pursued it.
Jennifer recognized Chasity as a Shining Star!
Chasity has been very flexible with her schedule. She is typically a day shift nurse and on multiple occasions, she has picked up night shifts. Chasity picks up hours on a regular basis for days and nights. Her willingness to do this is appreciated by all of us. Thank you, Chasity!
